Hi my name is Andrea Thelen.  I was active in high school, I played tennis and soccer-but stopped working out in college.  After college, I married my amazing husband Ben, started my job, and had our first child, Charlotte.  I gained a lot of weight with my first pregnancy and a year later I had ballooned to over 200lbs.  I knew I needed to do something and with a strict diet and running; I was able to regain my health and a level of activity needed for keeping up with a toddler.  We had another daughter, Quinn, and I had a much healthier, active pregnancy.  I played with weightlifting and Hiit workouts at home.  Near our home we found signs advertising a new CrossFit gym.  My husband joined, and after a year of watching his progress I finally got brave enough to join.  Since joining CrossFit, I’ve been able to work through my eating issues, run a marathon, focus on my mental and physical health, make new friends, and be able to focus on what my body can do.  


Alongside my fitness journey, I’ve taught every grade K-8.  Decreased activity and increased screen time has negatively impacted today’s students.  My friends and I started a running club at our middle school which included a positive self-esteem component.  I really enjoyed those hours after school.  After I joined CrossFit, my daughters also began Kids’ classes. They would wake me up during the summer excited and ready to go.  I loved seeing how becoming strong became their focus while having fun.  Last summer, I took my CrossFit Kids’ certification and since then I have enjoyed working with our Kids and Teen program.  We have a wonderful, supportive group, that work hard to achieve new goals, skills and PR’s-I hope that these skills cross over into their daily lives!
