My name is Joshua Righi and I am one of the coach’s at CrossFit Steel Courage. I found my passion for physical fitness shortly after high school. But just pursuing a fit lifestyle was not enough for me. I wanted to know more about exercise and how our bodies reacted to it. So I decided to study the effects of exercise on the human body. I graduated from Saginaw Valley State University with a Bachelors in Exercise Science. Which is basically the study of exercise and how it affects the body on a physiological level. Then apply this science to prescribe a fitness routine for an individual. Throughout my study I personal trained, taught various fitness classes and performed clinical level testing on collegiate athletes. I also studied alongside other personal trainers, athletics trainers, physical therapists, and cardiovascular therapists. I enjoyed working with people and helping them achieve their goals. It truly is amazing to see people overcome obstacles, whether physical or mental, that they thought were impossible. Then in 2014 I discovered CrossFit and the rest is history. I was drawn in by the physical and mentally demanding nature of the sport. The scalability of CrossFit made virtually every movement attainable. Plus working out alongside other supportive athletes and the positive atmosphere made me wanting to come back for more. I finally decided to pursue more education and become a CrossFit coach. So if you would like to get a great workout in, meet new friendly people, listen to some good tunes and achieve things you never thought you could do then stop on in and give CrossFit a try.
